The Ayers Trap
McCain and Palin have been beating the associations drum for the past week or so. Obama’s campaign came out and said McCain was exaggerating the relationship, and then they said it was irresponsible to keep repeating that they were terrorist.
Then the polls came out. McCain wasn’t moving up. The attacks weren’t working. So what does Obama do? He and Biden challenge McCain. “Say it to my face!” They basically call him a cowardly punk. The media also taunts McCain, questioning if he has the balls to bring it up at the debate.
John, it’s a trap, and you need to have a better answer than “I don’t give a damn about some old terrorist” when this comes up. I bet you a bailout that Obama has a better answer now. He’s going to say that they worked together on a board to provide grants to educate to poor minority children. Obama will say that Ayers and Dorhn did horrible, inexcusable things in their past, but have since dedicated their lives to educating Chicago’s poor children.
Obama will turn it around on McCain. McCain will call them unrepentant, and Obama will say they regret that they couldn’t help end the war sooner. McCain will say that Obama lied about his relationship with them, and Obama will say that he worked with Ayers on a board to help children. It was all about the children. Children, children, poor children.
Point: Obama.
