Jobs blame game

Last week, the jobs report came out with a net loss of 297k jobs.  Blame was of course put squarely on the Bush administration.  However, the numbers might reflect a different story.  Take a gander at the graph below (click on it for a bigger version):

Job growth and the Dow Jones were pretty steady after 9/11.  At least until a few months after the Democrats took over.  I’m sure it also coincided with the beginning of real estate prices beginning to fall, but the Democrats’ “let’s be fair and let ANYONE have a house” policy along with the Republicans’ “we can find some obscure way to make money off real estate in Wall Street, too” policy both contributed to that.  So this all doesn’t fall on Bush’s shoulders.

H/T: Dad

Taxorama

Boy, if your family makes over $250,000 $200,000 $150,000 $120,000, you’re so screwed.  You will face higher marginal taxes, dividend taxes, capital gains taxes, as well as Social Security and Medicare payments kicking back in.  Now, word is that a new surtax will also be imposed on “the rich” in order to fully rebate SS and Medicare taxes payments that lower income families make.

Bailouts.  Stimulus package.  Billion dollar loans.  Spreading the wealth.  When will it end?

The 52/48 movement

I didn’t know this went on after the 2004 election, but apparently there was a big “I’m Sorry” website from Americans to the rest of the world individually apologizing for re-electing Bush.  It even became a stupid book.  Now, there is a similar picture movement to get everyone to work together.

It’s the “From 52 to 48 with love” movement that refers to the popular vote percentage.  Lots of people putting up stupid signs in faux humility asking for “the 48″ to work with them.  Well, here’s a small collection of the pictures some of those same people were putting up four years ago.  Now that they have their way, they all just want to get along for America. Pffft. Look here for a suggestion of a better way to start.

Republicans need cure for elephantiasis

Catchy, no? :)   Deroy Murdock uses the imagery in his article, which makes a good case for what has gone wrong with the party and how we move forward.  I think his analysis of Bush and Rove is a little too harsh.  As I’ve written before, I think Bush’s singular mission after 9/11 was to keep America safe no matter the ransom cost required from Congress.

Oh, and if you don’t know what elephantiasis is, Google it.  But be warned that some graphic images might pop up.

The “fairness doctrine” has been imposed

What country has leaders that seek to shut down media outlets that discuss ideas in opposition of them?  No, not the U.S., silly.  Iran.

Gaffe or Fact? (Updated)

Obama’s choice to replace him as Senator was on “Meet the Press” this weekend.  She let it slip that Obama is “ready to rule” on day one.  She is one of The One’s confidantes, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that term is privately bandied about.  Brokaw didn’t even bother to question it.

Maybe we should start calling ourselves the royal opposition now.

Update: Hot Air has more on Ms. Jarrett.

Obama to grant foreign terrorists Constitutional rights (updated)

This is what happens when you elect a Harvard lawyer instead of a man tested by war as President.  Wanna make a bet all of them get released on bail pending trail because some judge feels sorry for them due to their long-term imprisonment without a trial?  I bet they ALL show back up for their court dates. Hopefully, we’ll have courts that will have the balls to block these pending releases like this one did.

Bonus: Read through the first link.  Notice the “give an Obama administration the benefit of the doubt” statement near the end?  Sound familiar?  This cult-like atmosphere is getting a little scary.

Update: Heh, I guess the inner lawyer might be giving way to the inner politician.  It’s a whole lot different when you actually have to make a decision, huh, Mr. President-Elect Obama?
