Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) highlighted some of the monumental wastes of taxpayer money in a conference call with bloggers.  Hot Air gives the highlights, which includes Coburn’s assessment of the bailout as the Worst Waste of the Year.  Coburn also has more on his Senate website.

What I found interesting was that his assessment that in order for the GOP to get back with the program, he thinks we need some grass roots conservatives to basically sacrifice themselves and take the heat for the cause.  He suggested we need fewer career politicians and have more real conservative thinkers.  I think the best way to do that is term limits, but that legislation would have to come from career politicians that are in there now.  Not going to happen, I suspect.
