Guess they don’t like that conservative label
I love the show “24.” I’ve watched it since the first season. It’s got a great pace, and they solve just enough of the puzzle each week to keep me coming back. And Jack Bauer — what a patriot!
Anyway, the show has been considered a conservative darling because of the “country first” aspect of it. I don’t think the producers much like that, I think that this season has suffered somewhat for it. First, Jack is still Jack, but he has a “conscience” character practically following him around that keeps reminding the audience that any kind of coercive interrogation is wrong no matter what is at stake. Second, they brought in Janeane Garofalo, just to make sure you know they are all true liberals in real life.
On top of that, the last couple of weeks have contained public service announcements in the middle of the show. Last week, Keifer Sutherland made one, but I can’t remember the topic. This week, Cherry Jones, who plays the President, made a cheesy one. She said that the characters were always in a hurry to end the next fictional crisis, but “there’s a very real threat facing all of us — climate change. Our planet is running out of time.” Geez.
If they’re trying to convert us, it ain’t working. All it will get them is low ratings if this crap keeps up.
