Pot, meet kettle

Geraldo is…  wow.  He has some nerve.  I can’t believe Fox News still employs him.  He probably cried racism when they tried to fire him after this incident in 2003:

Fox News Channel correspondent Geraldo Rivera is being expelled from Iraq for broadcasting details about future U.S. troop movements in the country, according to the Pentagon.

Dick Cheney is only the second person (that I recall) that this treasoner has accused of treasonous behavior.  Remember when he accused Rick Perry of it when he “threatened” secession during a Tea Party rally?

The only person listed in this blog post guilty of REAL treason is Geraldo himself.

Geraldo has another Capone’s vault moment

Geraldo got me a little perturbed earlier in the week when he told O’Reilly that the Travolta family should have come out with their son being autistic, because I’m sure Geraldo knows that as a fact, in order to validate other families dealing with autism.  He also said that Jett Travolta’s autopsy results should be revealed because his parents are public figures who dealt with their son’s illness, if he even had one, incorrectly due to their belief in Scientology.  Let’s hope his kids stay squeaky clean, because their faults should be exposed since their father is famous.

Anyway, Geraldo’s been touting this “world exclusive” video, shot by people hired by the Anthony family, supposedly taken in the same area that Caylee’s body was found about a month before the discovery.  Apparently the video’s owner called up Geraldo at the last minute and demanded payment before the video was shown.  So Geraldo decided to show the video to his in-studio audience and DESCRIBE it as he was watching it.  I had to laugh!

Yes! Bret replaces Brit

I’m a HUGE fan of Bret Baier, so I’m very excited to see he’s been named to replace Brit Hume on FNC’s “Special Report.”  I thought Jim Angle might get it, and don’t get me wrong, I like Jim a lot.  However, I’m really excited that Bret will take over.  I wish him all the best in his new job!

I ditto Allah’s thoughts over at Hot Air about rotating in some fresher commentators, such ask Kirsten Powers or Mary Katharine Ham as he suggests.  I also like S. E. Cupp and Marc Lamont Hill.  Hopefully, Bret can help bring in some of these voices.

Afterthought: I just watched the tribute to Brit on the show. Very moving.  I like that Brit yells at the GPS for not using proper grammar.  He seems so well respected, and it appears he will be missed greatly by many.

WH to NYT: Read your own paper, morons!

Despite reporting during the Clinton years of the potential Freddie / Fannie bust, the New York Times spent 5000 words blaming the economic collapse ENTIRELY on the Bush administration.  The White House, understandably, was not too thrilled.

While Bush should have pressed harder for reform (he mentioned it yearly in the budget but didn’t really do anything about it), he is by no means the catalyst that deflated this economy.  Here’s the report from one of Brit Hume’s last “Special Report” broadcasts on FNC.

Later in the broadcast, Nina Easton from Fortune Magazine said, quite aptly, “You cannot write a story about affordable housing policies and blame it on George Bush instead of the Democrats!  I mean, it’s just, it’s outrageous!”

More from Michelle Malkin.

Shep tells it as he sees it

And that’s part of the problem.  Shepard Smith, anchor of two hours of daytime programming on FNC, pretends that he’s part of the news team.  He’s THE unbiased journalist on the network simply reporting the news, unlike Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity.  But OF COURSE he has an opinion, and he’s not afraid to share it.  Look at the video examples in this interview of Shep conducted back in November.

He thinks himself unbiased because his opinion is different than most of the evening, op-ed talents’ on the network.  However, the fact that he was so willing to believe the tall-tale about Palin thinking Africa was a country instead of a continent shows just how far in the liberal tank he is.  I saw Obama, on video, tell the world that he believed there were sixty states (many say it’s the 57 states gaffe, but he said he visited 57, had one to go, and AK and HI were off limits — total 60).  I, however, did not believe he thought as such — it was a mistake, probably born of fatigue.

I don’t mind the liberals on the network — I welcome them.  However, don’t pretend you’re just an unbiased news anchor reporting the news without bent unless you’re really going to be.  To Shep’s credit, I have seen him do tough interviews of liberals if they are supporting a cause he doesn’t believe.  I see him as kind of a liberal O’Reilly of sorts who doesn’t yet have the prestige, but he’s working on it.

“I’m not saying it was inappropriate contact”

Flashback to Clinton?

Heh, no.  This morning on “Fox and Friends,” Rick Klein from ABC was being interviewed by Dave Briggs.  They were discussing Rahm Emanuel’s conversations with Gov. Blagojevich’s office.  One of them said, I think it was Rick but I’m not sure, that it was clear that Emanuel had some contact with the office, but then he said, “I’m not saying it was inappropriate contact.”

You’d think they were talking about Monica again.

Can you handle it?

As I blogged about before, I don’t think that O’Reilly followed by just Hannity would be tolerable.  At least for me.  Well, FNC has confirmed that is exacly what will happen.  Hannity really needs a foil to keep him in check.  I can hardly turn on his show without hearing the phrase ”radical associations” within the first ten minutes.  That’s probably why Colmes is leaving.

But, I will probably give it a shot.  Maybe the execs had a good chat with him, explaining the rules for him going solo.  I understand Hannity is passionate, but he has to understand that his viewers and most of his guests probably watch the show more than once in a week and have probably heard his repeated tirades against the Democrats the night before.  Please, Hannity, keep it in check.

Wow – H&C no more

So Alan Colmes is leaving “Hannity and Colmes” to possibly develop a weekend show.  He’s still going to do his nightly radio show on Fox News Talk.  He approached the FNC heads about leaving at the beginning of the year, and he’s going to be out by the end of the year.  I’ve never heard him mention children, so my first thought was that he and his wife of five years want to start a family.  His current schedule would probably be unacceptable in a nice liberal family where the men are expected to be complete equals in time with the children no matter what the working situation is.  <slap> I didn’t just say that.  Sorry. :)   BTW, this is just MY wild speculation.  He could be leaving for any reason.

The poll over at TV Newser has Kirsten Powers as the “fan favorite” replacement.  I like her, but the reason I like her is that she has liberal thought, but she actually thinks about things and has often veered from the party line.  Alan Colmes rarely misses a talking point, like Hannity, so I think Kirsten wouldn’t provide the more partisan back and forth that Colmes provides.  Maybe that’s a good thing, but I’m afraid KP would instead be more like Colmes on this show.  She was like that for a little while during the democratic primaries, and I didn’t like her then.  I like her because I have a hard time arguing some of her points.  If they changed the format of the show somewhat, I think she could be suited for the job.

I think Bob Beckel would be a better choice if they wanted the same Hannity and Colmes vibe with a different face.  He’s always got the talking points at hand, and I think he wouldn’t let Hannity get away with some of the things that Colmes does.  But, as Hot Air points out, it would be nice to see a female in that role.

Who knows.  I think the worst thing they could do is put Hannity solo.  While “Hannity’s America” might be highly rated, I think Hannity Solo would be an unfettered hard-right hour that might drive many viewers away.  I really like Hannity, but he repeats himself A LOT.  It drives me crazy sometimes.

Shep blows up again

I can’t watch Shep Smith much anymore.  However, I was stuck with nothing else to leave the television on today, and I saw Shep blow up at an emailer over the auto bailout.  He frequently gets irate at any number of things and lets his true colors show, and I often don’t agree with him.  This time, I did.
