On this lazy Sunday, I thought I’d link to a post which links to two good posts. One post for me, but read both of the links. Interesting stuff on the media, Obama, and conservatism for you to peruse.
The headlines over at Hot Air also has a link to an NYT article about irony. There is a bit about PJ O’Rourke’s upcoming article that the title alone makes me want to read.
CBS has a high opinion of their viewership. They refused to run a political ad, carried by all other major broadcast and cable news networks, because they were afraid viewers would confuse Pelosi’s appearance in the ad with her upcoming appearance on “Face the Nation.”
I wonder if they refuse to run, say, hair coloring ads featuring Eva Longoria Parker, one of the stars of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” because viewers might get confused and accidentally watch CBS looking for the show.
Oh, and you’re probably wondering what the ad is about. Well, it is anti-card check. You can see it at the link above.
Say it ain’t so, Rupert! The libs have had multiple Bush-bashing questioning networks for the past seven years. The conservatives need an alternative, especially moving forward. That is the only reason that FNC rose so prominently and has the ratings it does. Imagine what it will do during a democratic free-for-all on the Hill.
Hey, I’m comfortable getting all my news from the internet and talk radio (while I can), but it sure is nice having an outlet on television. Rupert, prepare for a mass exodus, you pu… err, I’ll keep it clean.
The polls open around the country in roughly 24 hours. If you haven’t voted, will you? Lines will be long, but it is IMPORTANT. Do you know who you are voting for? Are you just voting against someone? Either way, do it.
You know who I voted for. And I did vote FOR him. I believe John McCain and Sarah Palin are right for this country now. I firmly believe they will do everything in their power to cut wasteful government spending. That is my biggest concern. If the government is smaller, we all do better.
My second biggest concern is our national security. McCain is KNOWN. Our enemies know he’ll respond if attacked. Obama has pretty much allowed for a free shot or two, and Biden assured us it would happen. Obama also has no real plan for energy independence, which goes directly to our security. He recently said his policies would bankrupt coal companies and allow energy prices to skyrocket.
Another huge concern of mine is payback. Obama has $600 M worth of favors he will owe to his donors. And McCain? He owes $84 M worth of favors to his donors, too. The difference? Obama owes big unions, lawyers, Soros, and other big contributors. McCain? He owes US. WE financed his campaign, just as he promised to let us do.
Not enough? Here’s the link to the comprehensive case against Obama. Read it. Watch the videos. Look at my more recent posts for information on Khalidi, coal, and other items that have cropped up since the original case was made.
The LA Times put out a statement on “the tape.” (H/T: Hot Air) They apparently made a “cross our hearts and hope to die” promise to the tape owner not to release it in order to even see the tape.
So, since the paper has decided to give about 75 employees an early Christmas present, Ace has offered up a bounty for the tape. It looks like the offer is more than fair, and it might even be better if the tape is good. I’m sure it can be done.
Suggestions have been made that someone like Soros has already paid for silence, but he would have to pay every single person at the paper in order to preempt the release. Now, a bidding war might ensue once someone manages to swipe it out of the reporter’s desk; however, there area a lot of rich Republicans who will get screwed royally under Obama who might be able to come up with something.
Let’s hope someone at the LAT with a brain and love for America can make this happen in the next 24 hours.
Update: Looks like there might be — MIGHT BE — some quotes from the tape floating around the internet. The tip about the quotes are apparently from someone in the know, and from the language, it looks like someone who works at the LA Times. The quotes are from Obama himself, once again, proving that he will say anything to be liked by anyone. He’s either playing to this crowd or playing to America.
Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine … [there's been] genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis.
These are supposed — SUPPOSED — quotes from someone who reports that he has personally seen a clip from the tape. Very damaging stuff — if it’s true. They need to release the tape and let us all decide for ourselves. (H/T: Stop the ACLU)
Obama’s team obviously thinks it rules the world. Well, except for FNC and The Drudge Report. Oh, and the RNC. And anyone who dares question them is associated with one of these organizations or paid by them.
Good news: Megyn Kelly was on a roll today! Bad news: You have to listen to Bill Burton again. Ugh. First, she takes on Mr. Burton over the allegation that the new tape of Obama from 2001 that has surfaced is the doing of FNC and Drudge Report and is not pertinent to the current campaign. He contends it means NOTHING even though Obama speaks of redistribution back then. Yeah, he says that.
Then, Michael Brown is taken down by both Michelle Malkin and Megyn Kelly. He does, however, take the opportunity to say that the RNC was writing the Florida reporter’s questions AND that the local stations are being paid by the right. Wow.
Once again, attack the questioner, a la Joe the Plumber. I have never heard so much complaining about FNC and Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity by a campaign and the candidate itself. If McCain were to run around the country arguing that MSNBC had caused him to be 5 points down, he’d be called senile (not like he already isn’t). Palin complains about the MSM in general, but she has opened up more and more, more than the Obama / Biden ticket, who haven’t had a press conference in a month.
McCain’s campaign wrote one letter to NBC after their bias came to a head with anchor / reporter Andrea Mitchell questioning if McCain cheated during the Saddleback forum. He didn’t ban them. He didn’t threaten them. McCain’s camp cancelled one interview with CNN after Campbell Brown questioned Palin’s judgement of running for VP knowing her daughter was pregnant. The campaign has been back to CNN since, with little change apparently.
After the disatrous Couric interview, Palin took her lumps. She said she thought some of the questions, like the one about what she reads, were meant to put her down. But, she apologized for her flippant answer and took the chance in an interview with Carl Cameron to fix some things. She didn’t demean Couric for the questions she asked. She gave better answers and apologized for the previous ones. And if you’ve seen her interviews since, it’s like day and night.
It boggles my mind that Obama and Biden have the audacity to think the scope of their power encompasses the media, and they don’t have to answer tough questions. Can you imagine if a foreign leader had asked Biden a tough question and he answered with, “Are you joking? Is this a joke?” I can picture Biden telling that to Chavez right now.
Looks like F&F has been combing the blogs today. They picked up the credit card fraud issue this morning. They also played the audio from Stop the ACLU where State Senator Obama in 2001 expressed his disappointment that the Warren Supreme Court wasn’t more active in allowing redistribution of wealth, a natural progression of the civil rights movement.
Now, Michelle is on the show talking about the West / Biden interview and the consequences that channel has suffered.
Update: Ace has a better interpretation of the quote and what it means. Obama laments that the civil rights movement took the route of the courts, which was limited in what it could do, instead of organizing power bases to effect legislative change which could then be used to redistribute wealth. To me, it sounded like he wanted the court to be more active and actually tack on redistribution to civil rights challenges. However, I haven’t heard the WHOLE clip, also linked at Ace.
By the way, Bob Beckel on “America’s Newsrooom” on FNC this morning tried to say this quote was about redistributing taxes among schools to create equal schooling for lower-income children (as he argued was called for in Plessy v. Ferguson). Nice try, dude!
Two national publications, National Journal and the Washington Post, have checked into the fraud being perpetrated by the Obama campaign through the acceptance of online donations that bypass the address verification system (AVS). The conclusions? It can happen to anyone, and Obama’s campaign is returning donations they found to be fraudulent.
What they don’t point out is that the AVS has to be ACTIVELY BYPASSED — it’s not just an accident. McCain’s website has it. Hillary’s had it. Why is Obama bypassing it? And Noriega? And Murtha? Those questions aren’t asked by either publication. As Ace points out, the Journal didn’t even ask the campaign about it. What’s worse is they imply that McCain can be just as susceptible to the same fraud, which has been proven false.
Even when the MSM picks up the story, it’s like they are doing it to say, “See, we investigate Obama, too. There’s nothing there. Move along.” They’re afraid, because if you do ask a tough question, you get banned. Well, at least until he is annointed President. Then, I wonder how many stories will come out of the woodwork.
You know what they say — the bigger they are, the harder they fall. I bet the MSM can’t WAIT to tear him down. It reminds me of another saying, that old parental threat — I brought you into this world, I can take you out!
Update: “Fox and Friends” covered this story during the 6 AM (CST) hour 10/27. They mentioned the AVS and asked how McCain’s site and other sites like Amazon.com have it, so why wouldn’t Obama’s. They also said that the Obama camp’s statements noted they check for fraud AFTER the donation.
ABC ignored the story on air for 24 hours after it was broken by its website. NBC’s Andrea Mitchell played only the clip where Biden praised Obama instead of the one where he guaranteed an Obama presidency would bring a crisis. The same clip was played again on MSNBC’s morning show, but the host called them out on it.
Two people DID agree that there was bias on this story. Dan Rather(!) and CNN’s Drew Griffin, who admits to Sarah Palin that if she had said the same thing, the media would have clobbered her (see the video below with the money quote around 2:30).
